Low sew mini chonky bee pattern

If you're searching for an easy crochet bee pattern, you're in the right place! Although there are numerous options available, my Chonky Bee pattern stands out for its adorable and simple design. My original plan was to create a single mini bee pattern, but curiosity lead to designing three different sizes: Mini, Medium, and Large. One of the best parts about my Chonky Bee pattern is that it is low-sew; the only sewing required is attaching the wings to the top of the bee. This pattern is perfect for beginners, and you'll “BEE” amazed at how quickly it comes together. Whether you're new to crocheting or an experienced crafter, this pattern is a delightful addition to your collection.

Pattern notes (Please read before beginning pattern)

  • The pattern is worked beginning from the front to the back.

  • This pattern is worked using the yarn under method.

  • The CH1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

  • Right side facing out: The side in which the beginning yarn tail is not coming out. If right handed, you will be working counter-clockwise.

  • The recommended color change method is provided in Special Stitch Reference.

    • If preferred, you may opt to use the color change method that works best for you!

    • NOTE: After changing colors, the first ST of the rnd is worked in the BLO.

      • NOTE: I found this was not necessary with the mini nor medium bee but worked best with the large be due to it’s size.

  • A comma (,) indicates to work in the next stitch; For example “SC, SCINC” = Single crochet in next stitch, single crochet increase in next stitch.

  • A "x#" indicates to work given stitch in each of the next “x” number of stitches; For example: “SC x5” = Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches.

  • A number in front of a ST indicates to work that given # of STS in the same ST; For example: “3SC” = Work 3 single crochet in the same stitch.

How To Change Color:

  • At end of current round, join (SL ST) in first ST with current color.

  • With new color, work a slip knot.

  • With current color on hook, use hook to pull up loop of new color, then drop current color - image 1 (this completes color change).

Invisible Decrease (INVDEC): Insert hook into the FLO of ST then insert hook into FLO of next ST, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO pull through 2 loops.

  • NOTE: If preferred, a standard single crochet decrease (SC DEC) instead.

Puff Stitch (PS): *YO, insert hook into stitch, YO, pull up a loop to same height as ST.* Repeat from * to * x2. YO, pull through all loops. CH1 to close loop.
