Who doesn’t love a good 2-for-1 kind of pattern?? My 2-in-1 Candy Corn/Christmas tree is just that, it takes the best of both seasons and incorporates them into 1 easy pattern. With fall and winter back to back, this pattern will come in handy for making those seasonal plushies without having to make a new pattern! My 2-in-1 Candy Corn/Christmas Tree is a beginner friendly pattern but it is helpful to be familiar with amigurumi. 2-in-1 Candy Corn/Christmas Tree Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations:

  • 2dc-cl = 2 Double Crochet Cluster Stitch

  • CH = Chain

  • INC = Increase

  • MR = Magic Ring

  • Rnd = Round

  • SL ST = Slip Stitch

  • SC = Single Crochet

  • Single Crochet DEC = Single Crochet Decrease

  • ST = Stitch

  • YO = Yarn Over

  • YU = Yarn Under

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is worked beginning from top to bottom.

  • Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, do not join rounds.

    • A stitch marker is highly recommended.

  • Right side facing out: The right side is the side in which the beginning yarn tail is not coming out. If right handed, you will be working counter-clockwise.

  • A "x#" indicates to work the indicated ST in each of the next X number of stitches; For example: “SC x5” = Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches.

  • Stitches are worked using the yarn under method.

  • A comma (,) indicates to work in next St.

Special Stitches

  • 2 Double Cluster Stich (2dc-cl):

    • *YO, insert hook into ST, YO, pull through 2 loops* Repeat from * to *, you will have 3 loops remaining on hook, then YO and pull through all 3 loops. SL ST to close.

Instructions

TREE

Tree Body:

  • Rnd 1: With green yarn, 4SC in MR, do not join (4 STS).

  • Rnd 2: *SC, INC* Repeat from * to * (6 STS).

  • Rnd 3: *SC, INC* Repeat from * to * around (9 STS).

  • Rnd 4: *SC, INC* Repeat from * to * x3, SC in last ST (13 STS).

  • Rnd 5: SC x13 (13 STS).

  • Rnd 6: *SC x2, INC* Repeat from * to * x4, SC in last ST (17 STS).

  • Rnd 7: SC x17 (17 STS).

  • Rnd 8: *SC x3, INC* Repeat from * to * x4, SC in last ST (21 STS).

  • Rnds 9 to 10: SC x21 (21 STS).

  • Rnd 11: SC x20, INC in last ST (22 STS).

  • Rnd 12: In BLO, DEC x11, SL ST in first ST. Fasten off and weave ends (11 STS).

  • Optional - Make Star For Tree:

    • With yellow yarn, work a MR leaving a short tail (for assembly) then CH 3. SC in 3rd CH from hook, SL ST in MR.

    • *CH 3, SC in 3rd CH from hook, SL ST in MR*

    • Repeat from * to * x3 for a total of 5 points.

    • Use hook to stretch loop. Fasten off working yarn leaving a short tail. Use hook to pull yarn tail from working yarn through loop.

    • Pull yarn tail to tighten loop.

  • Finish Body:

    • Add safety eyes to rnds 7/8, spaced around 3 to 4 STS apart.

    • Add filling to plushy, making sure not to overstuff. Shape as needed.

    • Cut a short strand of green yarn for Christmas tree (or yellow yarn for candy corn) and thread to darning needle. Working in the BLO of Rnd 11, seam the opening shut.

  • Arm (Make 2):

    • With green yarn, work a slip ST leaving a 6” strand for assembly then CH 4.

    • SC in 2nd CH from hook, SL ST x2 down CH.

    • Fasten off leaving another 6” strand for assembly.

  • Assembly & Finish:

    • Add Feet:

      • Place front upside down with the front facing you. There should be 8 STS facing you from R11. Count 3 STS in from the right and insert hook into the 3rd ST

      • *Pull up a loop of the brown yarn and CH1. Work a 2DC-CL in same ST as CH1 then CH1. SL ST same ST as 2DC-CL. Fasten and weave ends.*

      • Count 2 STS in opposite direction and repeat from * to * to make 2nd foot.

    • Attach Arms:

      • Tie or sew arms into side of plushy in rnd 9, making sure they are even on both sides.

    • Attach Star (Christmas tree only):

    • Optional (for Christmas Tree or Candy Corn): Embroider a “smile” between the eyes and “blush” under the eyes.

CANDY CORN MOD

  • To Make Body, follow Tree pattern with following modifications:

    • Rnds 1 to 3: Use white yarn.

    • Rnds 3 to 6: Use orange yarn.

    • Rnds 7 to 12: Use yellow yarn.

    • Follow Tree instructions to “finish body” with short strand of yellow yarn (instead of green).

  • To make “arms,’ follow instructions for tree using yellow yarn.

  • For Assembly & Finish, follow instructions follow Tree with following modifications:

    • Make “feet” using yellow yarn.

    • Do not add star.

    • Follow all other instructions for assembly and finish as instructed.

    Your cute candy corn is done!
