hello kitty mod for cat planter pattern
NOTE: This is NOT a full pattern. My 4-in-1 Cat Planter Plushie pattern is required to work this free mod.
Make one of the most popular and iconic kitties using my 4-in-1 Cat Planter Plushie pattern, Hello Kitty!
In all honesty, this mod was NOT planned. However, I received a custom order request to turn my 4-in-1 Cat Planter into a Hello Kitty version and I could not say no. To stay “true” to Hello Kitty, I made a few modifications to my original pattern including removing the feet and tail. For the eyes, I used oval safety eyes, however, they can be embroidered on using black yarn/thread or black felt cut into small ovals; the same can be done with the nose (I used yellow felt).

Hello Kitty Mod for 4-in-1 Cat Planter Pattern
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
A copy of 4-in-1 Cat Planter Plushie pattern is required to work this mod.
NOTE:
A double asterisk (**) means to follow instructions for the indicated part or round(s) on 4-in-1 Cat Planter Plushie pattern.
SUPPLIES
**Finished plant of choice (see Part II)**
Pot: Any yarn in white and red or pink with hook size of choice (I used combo of Bernat Blanket & Premier Basix Chenille with a 5.5mm hook)
Eyes: Oval safety eyes in size of choice (I used 10mm x 14mm), black felt cut into 2 small ovals, or black yarn/thread to embroider
Nose: Yellow felt cut into small oval with or yellow yarn/thread to embroider.
Whiskers: Black yarn/thread
Other supplies: Stuffing & yarn needle
Optional
If using felt: Fabric or hot glue

ABBREVIATIONS
CH = Chain
FO = Fasten Off
FLO = Front Loop Only
HDC = Half Double Crochet
SC = Single Crochet
SL ST = Slip Stitch
ST or STS = Stitch or Stitches
RPT = Repeat
HELLO KITTY POT
Begin to Rnd 4: **With white yarn**
Rnd 5: **RPT rnd 6.**
Rnd 6: **RPT rnd 7**
Rnd 7 to 9: **RPT rnd 8**
Rnd 10: **RPT rnd 10**
Rnd 11: In FLO around, SL ST x7, **ear**, SL ST x7, **ear**, SL ST x16. FO, weave ends.
Add Eyes: Attach safety eyes, glue felt eyes, or embroider eyes with black yarn/thread to rnds 7 and 8 around 4 to 5 STS apart.
BOW
With red or pink yarn, work a slip knot and CH5, HDC in 3rd CH from hook. Working across CH: SL ST, HDC, CH2 SL ST in first CH of foundation CH. FO, weave ends. Cut a 6" to 8" strand of yarn and wrap around center SL ST several times leaving 2 short strands of yarn for assembly.
ASSEMBLY & FINISH:
Working in rnd 10, under the right ear, sew the bow to pot.
**Attach plant to pot & stuff (see Part IIII)**
Working in rnd 6 between eyes, glue felt nose or with yellow yarn/thread, emroider nose.
With black yarn/thread, embroider whiskers to side of eyes.
**Optional (if applicable): Attach your pot to the swing (see Part IIII)**
