Free scarf crochet pattern for plushies

“Winterize” your plushies with my free and easy scarf pattern! This scarf is easily customizable by adjusting your foundation chain to the desired length and going from there. These instructions are using a 4.5mm hook and super bulky yarn but any hook and yarn size will work. I would love to see how it comes out, tag me on socials @jarfulofknots!

Supplies:

4.5mm hook
Any super bulky #6 yarn in green, red, and white (or colors of choice)
Optional: Lighter

Abbreviations Used:

CH = Chain
FO = Fasten Off
HDC = Half Double Crochet
SC = Single Crochet

Notes:

Scarf is worked in rows from right to left. At end of each row, yarn is fastened off.
The CH1/CH2 at beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
Scarf length is customizable.
- This pattern is written using a 4.5mm hook and super bulky yarn but any yarn and hook size may be used.

Changing Colors:

Color change takes place at the beginning of previous row.

With new yarn, work a slip knot.
Insert hook in first ST (not CH1/CH2) and pull loop of new color.

Instructions:

Begin: With green yarn, CH81 (or until desired length).

Row 1: SC in first CH from hook, SC x79 (or until you reach end of CH) across. FO green, weave ends (80).
Row 2: Change color to red. CH2 and HDC in same ST as CH2. HDC x79 (or until you reach end of CH) across. FO red, weave ends (80).
Row 3: Change color to white. CH1 and SC in same ST as CH1. SC x79 (or until you reach end of CH) across, FO white, weave ends (80).
Row 4: Repeat row 2 (80).
Row 5: Change color to green. With green yarn, repeat row 3 (80).
Optional - Add Tassels:
- Cut 6" to 8" strand of each color as follows:
  - green = 4, red = 4, and white = 2
- Tie corresponding yarn strand to each end of row.
- Trim tassels as needed to even them out.
- Optional but recommended: Use a lighter to gently burn the ends of tassels to keep from shedding.
Scarf complete!
