free Pill mod for easy pickle plushie pattern
There are many cute pill plushie crochet patterns and display tags out there but I couldn't find one with everything I was looking for so I decided to design my own! I used my Easy Pickle Plushie Pattern as the base for these cute pill plushies.

NOTE: This is NOT a full pattern, a copy of my Easy Pickle Plushie is REQUIRED to work this mod. If preferred, I also have the full, paid, digital PDF pattern of my Easy Pill Plushie available in my shop (Easy Pickle Plushie pattern not required!). This mod shows how to use the super bulky weight yarn with a 4.5mm hook. The finished dimensions for my pill plushie came to about 4” tall x 2.5” diameter. As with my Easy Pickle Plushie, any yarn may be used for this mod (see image above) - please refer to the “Supplies” section of my Easy Pickle Plushie pattern for more information on this; the yarn category and hook size used will impact the finished dimensions of plushie. For this free mod, I used super bulky chenille yarn and a 4.5mm hook.

Pill Mod for Easy Pickle Plushie Pattern
Supplies:
Copy of my Easy Pickle Plushie Pattern
4.5 mm Crochet Hook
Hobbii Baby Snuggle (or similar) in color of choice and white
7mm to 8mm safety eyes (or desired size)
Fiberfill stuffing
Stitch marker and yarn needle
Optional: Small amount of black embroidery thread for “smile” and pink yarn for “blush.
Abbreviations:
CH = Chain
FPSC = Front Post Single Crochet
INVDEC = Invisible Decrease
MR = Magic Ring
Rnd = Round
SC = Single Crochet
SCINC = Single Crochet Increase (work 2SC in same ST)
SCDEC = Single Crochet Decrease
SL ST = Slip Stitch
ST or STS = Stitch or Stitches
YO = Yarn Over
Special Stitches:
Front Post Single Crochet (FPSC): FPSC is used in rnd 9 with the white yarn to provide a clean transition between colors:
Insert hook through front of your work into space before the post of the indicated ST.
Push hook behind the post through the space on the other side of post.
YO, pull up loop to same height as top ST.
YO, pull through all loop, FPSC complete.
Pattern Notes:
Modifications: The length of your plushie may be made long or shorter by adding/removing number of rounds worked after round 3 (or round 2 for slim pill plushie) and before 2nd to last round.
NOTE: For aesthetics, It is recommended to work the same number of rounds for each color.
This pattern is worked from the bottom, up.
Right Side Facing Out: The recommended right side is the side in which the beginning yarn tail is not coming out. If right handed, you will be working counter-clockwise.
This pattern is worked using the yarn under method.
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds, do not join rounds at the end of each round; a stitch marker is highly recommended.
An invisible decrease (INVDEC) is used in this pattern but if preferred, a single crochet decrease (SC DEC) may be used instead.
A comma (,) indicates to work in the next stitch.
A "x#" indicates to work given # of stitch(es) in the next x number of stitches; For example: SC x5 = Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches.
A “#ST” indicates to the given ST in multiples in the same ST of the # given; For example: 5SC = Work 5 single crochet in the same ST.

Chonky Pill Mod:
Rnds 1 to 3: With yarn color of choice, follow the instructions provided in Easy Pickle Plushie Pattern
Rnds 4 to 8: SC x24 (24).
Change color to white.
Rnd 9: With white yarn, FPSC x 24 (24).
Rnds 10 to 13: SC x24 (24).
Stuff plushie, making sure it is firm but not showing on the outside.
Rnd 14: *INV DEC (or SC DEC), SC* x8 (16).
Rnd 15: SC x16 (16)
Rnd 16: INV DEC (or SC DEC) x8. FO leaving a 6” tail for sewing (8)
Thread yarn tail onto needle and sew opening shut.
Optional: Embroider a smile and blush to your plushie.
