Free crown pattern for jumbo frog
I am so happy folks are enjoy this big guy! As a THANKYOU, I decided to offer this FREE crown pattern for your jumbo frog. This pattern (like my Jumbo Frog Pattern) can be worked with any yarn or hook size, though, for consistency, I recommend using the same/similar yarn and hook size that you used to work your frog. The written pattern and extended video tutorial are provided at the bottom of this page.

Crown Pattern for jumbo frog
Level: Beginner
Terminology: US
Abbreviations Used & Special Stitch References:
CH = Chain
BLO = Back loop only
FLO = Front loop only
HDC = Half Double Crochet
HDCINC - Half Double Crochet Increase
INVDEC-SL ST = Invisible Decrease - Slip Stitch: Insert hook into the FLO of each of the next 2 STS, yarn under, pull through all 3 loops.

Alternative Option for MR: CH2, work in 2nd CH from hook.
P = Picot Stitch: CH2 then insert hook into the space between the last 2 HDC’s worked, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all loops.
SC = Single Crochet
SCINC = Single Crochet Increase
ST or STS = Stitch or Stitches
Pattern Notes:
It is highly recommended to carefully read these instructions before starting this project.
This pattern uses the yarn under method for the SC’s.
A slip stitch decrease (SL ST-DEC) may be substituted for the INVDEC-SL ST.
A comma (,) indicates to work in the next ST.
A "x#" indicates to work the indicated ST in each of the next “x” number of stitches; For example: SC x4 = Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches.
Supplies:
Your finished Jumbo Frog (pattern sold separately)
Any yellow colored yarn and crochet hook in size of choice
Note: For consistency, it is recommended to use the same or similar yarn and the same hook size to what was used to work the frog.
Yellow medium worsted yarn, thread, or floss (for sewing)
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Instructions:
Make Crown
Begin & ROUND 1: Work a MR and SC5 in MR (5).
ROUND 2: SCINC x5 around (10).
RND 3: [SC, SCINC] x5 around (15).
RND 4: In BLO, SC x15 around (15).
RND 5: INV-DEC SL ST. To work first crown peak in the next ST: HDCINC + P + HDC. [INV-DEC SL ST, HDCINC + P + HDC] x4 to complete a total of 5 crown peaks. SL ST in first ST to join and fasten off and weave ends.
Assembly:
Attach crown to the top center of your jumbo frog (or your desired placement) by sewing it in place with your yellow worsted yarn, thread, or floss.
